Tekken 7 might have a steeper adjustment curve if you're coming from T5. I play both as my primary FGs, and I've been playing since T3 and SC1. When I do, it's usually with friends and we just play other games altogether.īut that's just me. Also, you can kick off your opponent off the arena, or have moments of hilarity where you're plotting to throw your friends off, only for karma to bite you in the butt.
I tend to prefer the fantastical or wacky stuff over the more grounded things (hence why I rarely tough Street Fighter or Virtua Fighter for example) and I love the soundtrack, as well as the sword fighting and overall feel of the game. Personally speaking I prefer Soul Calibur. Since you'll be playing single-player mainly, that's what ultimately matters. Just look up the games on Youtube and see how they look like in motion, as well as the content they offer. Tekken is usually considered as the less accessible title, while Soul Calibur is easier to get into.

Soul Calibur goes full on medieval fantasy. Tekken was always about a more grounded approach: you play characters representing martial arts, even if there's a fantastical element to it through the Mishima family. Tekken 7 has a bigger playerbase, SC6 has a smaller one. Soul Calibur also has a story mode, but it's shorter I believe. It really depends on your personal taste though.
